Review for Test 4 (EMA 4223)
1. Know the difference between power law creep and diffusional creep.
2. Know how to design against creep for each type of material.
3. Be able to sketch or identify a creep rupture diagram.
4. Know the principle behind stress relaxation. You do not have to know the exact equation, but should know the general concept, i.e., etot = e el + e cr.
5 Given a (creep) deformation mechanism map, be able to fill in the labels to identify the critical regions.
6. Know Fick’s first law and its relationship to Arrhenius behavior.
7. Be able to sketch a creep diagram, i.e., strain versus time.
8. Be able to recognize the equations for diffusional creep and dislocation creep, i.e., know which is which.
9. Know how to do the homework problems.
